Terms of Use
Last updated: 31 August 2026.
These terms cover your use of Beijing Tourism Guide (www.beijingtourism.org). Reading the site means you accept them. They are written in plain English because there is no advantage to either of us in burying the important parts.
What this site is
Beijing Tourism Guide publishes free, independently written travel guides about Beijing and the surrounding region. It is a publication, not a travel agency. We do not sell flights, hotel rooms, rail tickets, attraction tickets or tours; we take no bookings, hold no money on your behalf, and have no commercial relationship with any operator we mention. Any transaction you make happens directly with that provider, on their terms, and we are not a party to it.
Visas, entry rules and other things you must verify yourself
This is the most important clause on the page, so it is not buried at the bottom.
Chinese entry requirements — visas, the transit visa-free schemes, eligible ports of entry, permitted stay lengths, onward-ticket rules, passport validity and health or documentation requirements — depend on your nationality and your exact circumstances, and they change without notice and sometimes without announcement. Our guides describe these rules as we understood them on the date shown on the page. They are background reading, not authority. Before you book anything or travel, confirm your own position with the Chinese embassy or consulate responsible for your jurisdiction, with the official China Online Visa Application portal, and with your airline. Where they disagree with us, they are right and we are out of date.
The same applies, with less at stake, to everything else operational: opening hours, closing days, ticket prices, advance-booking windows, passport requirements at attraction gates, subway and rail timetables, airport transfer options and restaurant details. Beijing moves quickly on all of it. Check before you go, particularly for anything that requires booking days or weeks ahead.
No warranty, and the limits of our liability
The site is provided as it is. We work hard at accuracy and correct mistakes when we learn about them, but we do not warrant that everything here is complete, current or error-free, and we do not guarantee that the site will be available without interruption.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss you suffer from relying on the site — including a refused visa or denied boarding, a missed flight or train, a wasted journey to a closed attraction, a booking that turned out differently from how it was described here, or any other cost, disappointment or injury arising from a travel decision. Travel decisions are yours. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Nothing on this site is legal, immigration, financial, insurance or medical advice. Guides that touch on vaccinations, air quality, altitude, food safety, insurance or money are general information written for a general reader, not advice about you. If you need advice about your situation, ask someone qualified to give it.
Safety, law and local conditions
Where our guides describe Beijing’s neighbourhoods, its nightlife, its history or its practical realities, they do so as travel journalism. Nothing on this site encourages, endorses or advises you to break Chinese law, and describing something that exists or once existed is not a recommendation to seek it out. You are responsible for obeying the laws and regulations of China while you are there, including those covering photography, drones, protected sites, internet use and permitted areas.
Consult your own government’s official travel advice for Beijing before you go. That advice is authoritative for you in a way that a travel guide never can be.
Our content, and what you may do with it
The text, structure and original photography on this site belong to Beijing Tourism Guide and are protected by copyright. Some images are licensed from third parties or used under open licences, and those remain the property of their owners under whatever terms apply to them.
You are welcome to read the site, print or save pages for your own trip planning, and quote a short extract with clear credit and a link back to the page you took it from. You may not republish guides in whole or substantial part, redistribute them commercially, or use the content to train machine learning models without written permission, and you may not scrape the site in a way that degrades it for other readers. To reuse anything beyond a short quotation, or to check the licence on a specific image, ask through the contact page.
Links to other sites
The guides link out to official and third-party sites, including consular and rail booking services. Those links are provided because they are useful. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for their content, accuracy or availability, and a link is not an endorsement of the operator behind it.
Advertising
Advertising is not running on this site at present. When it starts, adverts will be served by third parties and their content is not chosen, written or endorsed by us. Any dealing you have with an advertiser is between you and them. Advertising has no influence on what the guides recommend — see the About page for how editorial independence works here, and the privacy policy for the data side of it.
Messages you send us
If you send us a correction, a tip or a description of your own experience through the contact form, you allow us to use that information to check and improve the relevant guide. We will not publish your name, your email address or your message itself without asking you first. What happens to the message is set out in the privacy policy.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised version. These terms are governed by the law of the publisher’s country of establishment, and nothing in them removes any consumer protection you have under the law of your own country of residence.
Questions about anything on this page can go through the contact form.
